How Being a Single Mom Made Me a Budget Life Coach Extraordinaire!
I can grow any budget into comfort
Life as a single mom is no walk in the park. It’s a constant balancing act—juggling bills, work, and kids while trying to hold onto your sanity. But through the trials, tribulations, and late nights staring at my bank account, I discovered something incredible: I am a resource queen. I learned how to turn pennies into dollars, time into opportunities, and stress into success.
Today, I coach moms from all walks of life on how to budget, set goals, and build a comfortable life, no matter their financial situation. Need a side hustle or new job, or maybe you’re building your own business, I know how to build Up. My journey is proof that when life throws you lemons, you don’t just make lemonade—you build a lemonade empire.
The Reality of Being a Single Mom
There were days when I couldn’t afford gas for my car. Nights when I stayed up clipping coupons or searching for deals online. And let’s not forget the moments of sheer panic when an unexpected expense popped up, threatening to derail everything. Being a single mom wasn’t just about survival; it was about creative survival.
I learned to dumpster dive for furniture I could clean up and use, scour thrift stores for clothes that looked brand new, and find free stuff and free local events so my kids could enjoy life without a price tag. I became a master of budgeting, finding ways to stretch every dollar to its absolute limit.
Extreme Couponing and Frugal Living
One of the skills I mastered but it took time was extreme couponing. I grew up with a single mom who clipped coupons. things are different. Now we have apps and if you know the right ones it’s like clicks of gold. It wasn’t just a hobby—it was a lifeline. I figured out how to stack deals, use apps, and work rewards programs so well that my grocery bills were often slashed by 70% or more. I didn’t stop at groceries, though. Clothes, school supplies, holiday gifts—you name it, I found a way to save. often doing my holiday shopping throughout the whole entire year.
I also got creative with meals. I learned to cook nutritious dinners with whatever I had on hand, turning “nothing in the fridge” into a feast. This wasn’t just a lesson in saving money—it was a lesson in resilience.
later in life, I would learn how to budget a 300+ Employee company to grow 16% profit in less than a year. All with my budgeting techniques. And boosting Employee morale.
being on a budget as a mom is crucial, but it’s a skill that you can use almost anywhere you go. If you can save your company money ultimately that’s money in your pocket. Budgeting for business is better business. Budgeting for home is a better home.
Food Budgeting
with having one child who is allergic to gluten and one who is picky and the oldest at 16 eating like a teenager shopping is not always easy and it gets more expensive the more organic and healthier you get. but we have to shop healthy and smart and know our way around the ad advertising traps. When buy water to buy. it really is a delicate art.
I’m so glad I learned how to teach this through learning myself.
Finding Purpose Through Coaching
All those years of living on the edge taught me more than just how to budget. They taught me how to dream. I realized I could turn my expertise into something meaningful, something that could help other moms who were feeling the same overwhelm I once did. I am not rich today. I am a single mom who is Working hard to provide a life for my children Through my hard work, my passion and dedication we are doing well my kids never see me struggling they have Everything they need. And though I am still too proud to ask for help When I do struggle. I know how to find the resources I need so that I don’t have to ask for help. And because of that we live well. Well enough to share my skill set with others. as a life coach, I guide moms to build a life of comfort and stability, no matter their starting point.
